Colors in Bridesmaid Dresses

One of the important factors to choose bridesmaid dresses is the color. The bride may choose the color that is her favorite and compliments the bridesmaids.
There are many colors of bridesmaid dresses to choose from. The colors should be fit for the time, season and formality of the occasion. Pink is a widely chosen color for girls. This color implies youth, pretty and femininity. Outdoor wedding during spring are ideal times to choose pink bridesmaid dresses. This color will also be a great choice for more mature bridesmaids. There are also varying shades of pink such as rum pink that similarly looks pretty and feminine but not very teenage-like.
Long black bridesmaid gowns are most proper for formal evening ceremonies. Black short dresses may be chosen for a more casual event in combination with light colors such as white. Black is a flexible color that looks good on majority of women. Bridesmaids who want to slim down their looks also choose black for its slimming effect. And black dresses may even be worn again in other formal occasions after the wedding.
Red bridesmaid dresses are thought of as a bolder choice. To tone down its striking appearance, the dress may be made shorter and combined with other lighter colors. Red also comes in various shades. Fiery red seems to be very prominent and too sexual that it can attract the attention of the guests. This may not be favorable to the bride who should be the focus of the wedding, thus a lighter or muted shade of red should be selected. Women with brown or olive skin are suitable to wear red colored dresses. Redheads and blondes tend to look pale with red.
Plum bridesmaid dresses can be substituted to red gowns if you want to leave out the sexual implication of red. Like red, plum tends to make a woman with fair complexion to appear paler. Plum may also look great on women with yellow skin tones.
Pastel colored dresses are best for summer or spring daytime weddings. Orange dresses in coral or peach shades are the current trend. They look most appropriate on dark-skinned women.
