When I hear the term "leather and lace" the first thing I think of is an
old, run-down lingerie store that used to be right off the freeway near
my hometown. Luckily, this new fashion trend is nothing like that lingerie store.
Seen all over the runways, these two opposites -- edgy leather and
romantic lace -- make a great combination.
All Black + A Pop of Neon
Black leather has a cool, rocker girl vibe, while black lace can feel formal and slightly Victorian. Combine these two with a black leather jacket over a lace dress for an awesome, mixed-up effect. Streamline everything by pairing with back shoes and all black accessories, except for one pop of neon. A skinny lime green belt is a perfect option.
Pleated Leather Mini
If you feel like you can't quite pull off a pair of leather pants try a leather skirt instead. The key is choosing a leather skirt that is pleated and high-waisted.
High-Waisted Short Shorts + Lacey Blouse
Leather shorts have a fabulous, high fashion vibe, but they can be a little tricky to style. Opt for a pair of shorts that are high-waisted and pair them with a blouse that is long-sleeved and high-necked. You want to create balance with the amount of skin you show. Also, keep the accessories simple; all you need is a clutch and black pumps.
Dainty Lace Oxfords
Wear your lace in a place where you'd least expect it... like your shoes. Lace-up oxfords with cutout lace detailing on the sides are a really darling option. Plus, they've got a cool retro vibe. Wear them with or without socks -- but if you do wear them with socks, choose an ankle-length pair that is pretty and printed.
